Game Of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke took the world by surprise when she revealed she had just finished filming the first series of Game of Thrones when she suffered a devastating brain haemorrhage that left her in intensive care.
She managed to get back to work, filming other seasons of the show and putting on a brave face while going in and out the of hospital. Her story came as a shock to most people because she hid it so well and bravely carried on.
She has now shared candid photos from the hospital during her recovery of her lying in her hospital bed from her first brain aneurysm which occurred when she was just 24.
Opening up about her ordeal, Emilia told CBS Sunday Morning : ‘Very quickly I realised I couldn’t stand and I couldn’t walk, and in that moment I knew I was being brain damaged.
‘The second one there was a bit of my brain that actually died, if your brain doesn’t get blood to it for a minute it will just no longer work. It’s like you short-circuit.’
But reflecting on the life-threatening situation with humour, Emilia joked: ‘I always say it’s my taste in men that’s no longer there.
‘For a very long time I thought it was my ability to act, from the first one as well.’
The British actress went on to explain how her role as Daenerys Targaryen in Game Of Thrones helped her get through the ordeal.
She revealed: ‘You got on set and you play a bada*s and you walk through fire, and that became the thing that saved me from considering my mortality.’
Emilia first revealed her terrifying health problems in a heartfelt essay written for the New York Times in March.
