Ed Sheeran to become a billionaire before 30 after £500m from tours boost wealth

British singer Ed Sheeran is said to be poised to become a billionaire before he turns 30 in just two years.

The 28-year-old crooner is said to have grossed more than £493 million from his mammoth Divide tour, which spans 260 shows across Europe, Asia, North and South America, Oceania and Africa.

It began way back in March 2017 following the release of his number one album, Divide, and will run until August with a final leg in Europe.

A pretty exhaustive schedule but it’ll all be worth it when Ed reaches billionaire status, according to The Sun.

Experts say that the next set of shows Ed has planned over the coming three months will give his tour earnings an eye-watering boost of £100 million, pushing him ever closer to that billion mark.

Music industry expert Mark Borkowski told the publication: ‘The man who was busking on the streets is now a man who is going to be a billionaire. Above all, this shows just how potent live music is nowadays.

‘It’s the one that generates the money. The music business has moved on with labels having to be more savvy and Ed clearly has a team that knows what it’s doing.’

The revelation comes just weeks after Ed was ranked number 17 on the Sunday Times Rich List after taking an estimated £80 million in 2018. L

It pushed him past superstar singer Adele, who came in at number 22 with a total fortune of £150 million.

Ed currently has an estimated net worth of £160 million.
