Rapper YG arrested on robbery charges after police raid his home

US rapper, YG has been arrested on suspicion of robbery days before he is due to perform at the Grammys.

The rapper, whose real name is Keenon Jackson, was taken into custody after officers got a search warrant for his home in the Chatsworth area of Los Angeles.

YG is expected to perform is section paying tribute to rapper Nispey Hussle, who died last year.

The rapper made his $250,000 bail and was released at about 9pm local time. He is due to appear in court on Tuesday for arraignment, where he will formally face charges.

TMZ reports his house was raided in the early hours of Friday morning. YG’s Hollywood Hills home was searched by sheriffs in July in connection with a shooting that killed a bystander.

The rapper was not implicated in the shooting and he was not home at the time of the search, authorities had said.

Police have not said if the shooting and the alleged robbery were connected.

YG’s lawyer, Joe Tacopina, released the following statement to TMZ following his client’s arrest: “This arrest is one that caught YG completely off guard because there is no truth to them. YG has no idea what investigators are talking about and we have not been provided with any details … we are learning about this case through the media.”

He later added, “This has become even more outrageous … normally, in the American justice system, you get arrested after an investigation is completed. The motives here are pretty clear.”
