Bisi Alimi celebrates 15 years of revealing he is gay on National TV in Nigeria

Gay rights activist, Bisi Alimi is celebrating 15 years of declaring himself gay on National TV in Nigeria.

Bisi 15 years ago had sat down with Funmi Iyanda in a no holds barred interview where he revealed his status. Ever since then, it's been a long journey for him. 

Celebrating this, he took to Instagram to write about how his last 15 years have been -- the hate, the love and what he would have achieved, if he had decided to hide his status as gay... His words;

"I woke up this morning in my hotel room in Basel, Switzerland pretty overwhelmed. I can’t for the life of me believe it is 15 years ago today that I sat on that sofa with Funmi Iyanda on New Dawn with Funmi, and did something that shocked Nigeria.

It has been a 15years of many ups and many downs. Of laughters and tears. Of love and hate. The last 15 years has shaped my life beyond what I could have ever imagined that morning when I uttered the word “I don’t want to marry a woman cos the society wants me to”. I look back many times and say, maybe if I haven’t, I could still be in Nollywood now, married with kids. Maybe if I hadn’t, I would be pulling millions of followers on social media and having many endorsements, and hosting shows in Nigeria.

But I did.
I did and it came with a price. A very scary one.
I am here in Basel cos I did. I went to the White House and met Obama, cos I did. I spoke to sold out conferences, halls and schools cos I did.

I call many celebrities and amazing people around the world as my friend cos I did.

I married the most amazing man in the world, cos I did.

Coming out has thought me everything has a price, and I am happy that while it might have cost me tears, doubts, agonies and pains, it has also shown me that life is beautiful and being honest, authentic and real is the biggest gift you can give yourself.

To everyone that has made my life amazing and beautiful, I just want to thank you.

To all the people that accepted me into their inn and made me a member of their family, thank you.

To everyone that believed in this crazy, weird abs extremely opinionated poor from Mushin. I say thank you.

Here is to the next 15 years. I have no idea what it holds, but I know one thing for sure, I am even going to be a badder badass homosexual with only one goal, making Nigeria safer for the misfits

Beyonce tested for breast cancer gene after her father reveals breast cancer diagnosis

Beyonce and her sister Solange Knowles were tested for the breast cancer gene, after their father, Mathew Knowles revealed his shock diagnosis.

The 67-year-old opened up about being diagnosed with breast cancer on Good Morning America, and admitted he was worried his kids were at risk too.

Mathew said: “The first call was to my family, that was the very first call. Because this is genetics. It means my kids have a higher chance – a higher risk.”

“It also means my grandkids are a high risk,” he said, before adding, “They handled it like they should. They went and got the test.”

Speaking about his diagnosis, Mathew said he knew something was wrong after he noticed a recurring dot of blood on his shirts, and a mammogram later confirmed that he had breast cancer.

He underwent surgery at the end of July, and is now on the road to recovery.

“Things that used to be important to me aren’t important now. I just look at the world differently,” he said.

He divorced Beyonce’s mum Tina in 2011 after 30 years of marriage, and shares daughters Beyonce and Solange with his ex-wife.

The music manager also shares daughter Koi and son Nixon with current wife Gena Avery.

Actor Robert De Niro accused of gender discrimination in $20 million counter-lawsuit by former employee

Hollywood Actor, Robert De Niro is now facing a gender discrimination lawsuit.

The lawsuit was filed Thursday against De Niro in Manhattan federal court by Graham Chase Robinson, a former employee of the actor.

Robinson accused De Niro of gender discrimination, harassment, unwanted physical contact and being verbally abusive in the lawsuit.

“Robert De Niro is someone who has clung to old mores,” the lawsuit claimed. “He does not accept the idea that men should treat women as equals. He does not care that gender discrimination in the workplace violates the law. Ms. Robinson is a casualty of this attitude.”

Robinson claimed De Niro treated her as his “office wife” and made her do “stereotypically female duties, like housework.”

She also alleged she was underpaid and denied overtime pay.

The lawsuit is a countersuit from Robinson which comes after De Niro sued her for $6 million, alleging that the former employee stole money from his company, Canal Productions and binge watched excessive amounts of “Friends” on Netflix while on the job.
