Actress Uche Ogbodo reveals she is open to love again

Nollywood actress and single mother of one, Uche Ogbodo has revealed that she is  ready to take another shot at love.

The movie star whose marriage to Apo Arthur in 2013 crashed over irreconcilable differences a few months after, told Inside Nollywood that she wouldn’t mind getting married again so her daughter could have some siblings to play with.

“My baby girl will have siblings soon. I assure you. Watch out. I am still a lover girl as I was a few years ago. It’s only that I am a little wiser and stronger. Now, I am open to finding love again and getting married. I won’t say I have regrets over my past. I only have lessons learnt. Also, I don’t frown at finding love in the industry. If you find your love amongst your colleagues in showbiz, please feel free to nurture it. If I find love here, I will definitely nurture it. But I have never, not yet,” she asserted.

The Enugu State-born thespian also talked about the high and low moments of single motherhood.

“The joyful moments we (my daughter and I) spent together, discovering ourselves as she grows up are my high moments. The lows are when I had to cry in my bedroom all alone, praying to God to save me from stress, because I work too hard trying to provide all she needs. It is not easy but I am thankful for grace.”

Ogbodo, however, advised single parents striving for survival not to give up. “Know that you have an everlasting love in that child in your arms. It’s love that is pure and true, that never lies nor disappoints; and that will never betray or abandon you. So, cherish the moment in time.”

Mr Ibu says COVID-19 is not in Nigeria

Comic actor, John Okafor aka Mr Ibu, has claimed that the global pandemic raging the world, coronavirus is a scam in Nigeria.

In a chat with The Nation, the actor said he does not believe that COVID-19 exists in Nigeria nor does he care about its existence.

“Nigeria, we are not supposed to be involved in this COVID-19, I see no reason why we should be involved. Only Nigerians in diaspora will have to partake in this devilish program.

"We at home are oblivious, we are not supposed to be involved in any ceremony in trying to pretend or in trying to avoid. My brother, COVID-19 or 20 is not here, I don’t care. no dey fear anything I dey wear cloth waka on my own. Nothing dey here, nobody don die for this whole area, if you go another area nobody don die, go to stadium nobody don die. Let’s be sorry for ourselves. I’m telling everybody not just the government this, say only what you know do not exaggerate it. Na we dey take our mouth call sickness by im own, sickness dey pass on its own but na we dey call am for Nigeria. You won’t see COVID-19 because it’s not here.”

On the rising numbers of COVID-19 cases in Nigeria and activities of the NCDC, Mr. Ibu said,

“You know anybody? Have you ever attended any burial and they say na this thing kill am? have you ever gone to the hospital them say this person na Covid dey hold am? have you ever seen a family them say somebody na Covid na em kill am yesterday for family wey you know? You cannot, dem say dem say na em me and you dey hear. Even the sickness dey fear us. 

“Are they not human beings, let them bring a picture of at least one person killed by COVID-19 and we find the family of such a person. COVID whatever is not in Nigeria, we have hot weather here, the disease is scared of us just as we are scared of it so it can’t come here. It has affected so many industries in the country, it has driven us away from work because of the lies and gossip. Na small thing e remain hunger for don kill me since if no be say better people dey wey dey give us money.”

Hushpuppi denied bail in the US

Ramon Abbas Olorunwa, popularly  known as Hushpuppi, has been denied bail by a United States court sitting in the Northern District of Illinois.

Abbas, who is a popular Instagram celebrity in Nigeria, was arrested in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and extradited to the US to face criminal charges over allegations of swindling many people and businesses out of millions of dollars through scams. 

Appearing at a detention hearing, a court in Illinois ruled that Abbas will be transported to Los Angeles by the U.S. Marshals Service and will not be allowed to stay with his girlfriend’s uncle in Homewood, Illinois. His trial is slated to be held in Los Angeles where the case was filed rather from Chicago where the investigation is being handled, Forbes reports.

Throughout the hearing, Abbas’s lawyer denied that his client was a flight risk or a danger to the community, repeatedly rejecting the allegations made against his client by the FBI’s affidavit posted earlier. 

Melody Wells, Assistant United States Attorney and a prosecutor in the Chicago district attorney’s office, convinced the court that Abbas is a flight risk, describing his “significant” financial assets, “deep ties to foreign countries” and a lack of ties to the United States.

Wells said Abbas had the “perfect recipe to flee the charges that he faces here.” The court ruled that there was “more than enough justification to order that the U.S. Marshall bring Abbas to California as soon as possible to answer the complaint there.”

Ruling that Abbas had “A great incentive not to continue to respond to these proceedings here,” as he is “facing a long sentence.”

The court acknowledged risks that in addition to holding passports to other countries (Saint Kitts and Nevis) Abbas has “access to large amounts of money” described by the court as “not chump change.”

Adding, “The fact that you project a wealthy lifestyle ... you gotta be doing something right to pay $10,000 a month for an apartment in Dubai ... you have access to some real cash.”
