Angelina Jolie says she felt ‘pretty broken’ before filming Maleficent

Angelina Jolie admits she found it difficult getting into the swing of acting again when it came to filming the new Maleficent movie, suggesting her divorce from Brad Pitt left her feeling ‘pretty broken’.

The 44-year-old actress has reprised her role as the wicked fairy godmother, Maleficent, in the anticipated sequel Mistress of Evil.

But Ange recalls how it was a shock to the system getting back on set as it was her first time acting in front of the camera for four years. In that time, the Hollywood star had been dealing with her highly-publicised split from husband Brad after two years of marriage, while also trying to come to a custody agreement over their six children.

Recalling the challenging experience, Angelina told People: ‘It was a tough time. I’d been coming off a few years of difficulty, and I was not feeling very strong. In fact, I was feeling pretty broken. It took me a moment to feel the strength of [Maleficent] again.’ It was recently reported that
