TV personality Katie Piper shares heartbreaking photo of acid attack burns to raise awareness for World Mental Health Day

Television personality Katie Piper has bravely shared a photo revealing the extent of her horrific acid attack injuries to raise awareness for World Mental Health Day.

The former Strictly Come Dancing star was brutally attacked by a man who was hired by her bitter ex-boyfriend, Daniel Lynch, in 2008.

As a result of the attack, Katie was left blind in one eye and severe burns mostly on her face.

To mark World Mental Health Day, the TV star shared a previously unseen photo believed to be taken not long after the incident, showing the severe burns on her face.

In the heartfelt caption, Katie explained: ‘I remember when I didn’t want to look at anyone. I remember when I didn’t want anyone to look at me. I remember when I was scared of people, scared of men.

‘I remember when I was scared of the world. I remember when opening up to people and talking about my trauma and psychological damage just wasn’t possibly.’

She added: ‘Today on Mental Health Day my first meeting of the day is with my therapist. I still go, it still helps and I’m able to talk.’ Sharing some final words of encouragement for anyone battling mental health issues,  Hold On Pain Ends mentalhealthawareness#mentalhealthday @wmhday [sic].'
