President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday received briefings from the Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire and the Director General (DG) of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu over the efforts to stop the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr Ehanire, who fielded questions from journalists after the briefings, said the impromptu visit was used to brief President Buhari on the problem and necessary measures to be taken at this point in time.
On the takeaway from the meeting, he said: “The takeaway is that we are available to clarify a few things in question regarding the state we are in the coronavirus disease outbreak in Nigeria.”
Asked to speak on what he told the President, he said: “I explain to him those problems, the situation and what the projections will be going forward, and the measures we think will be very necessary at this time.”
The minister, who was asked to reveal the measures suggested to the President, said: “I will leave that to him to decide. I don’t want to disclose that now.”
