President Buhari's Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, dies after battling COVID-19



The Chief of Staff to the president, Abba Kyari has died.

He died on Friday April 17, more than two weeks after he tested positive to Coronavirus.

Announcing Kyari's death on Twitter, Presidency spokesman Garba Shehu, wrote;
''The Presidency regrets to announce the passage of the Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari.

“The deceased had tested positive to the ravaging COVID-19, and had been receiving treatment. But he died on Friday, April 17, 2020.”

"May God accept his soul. Funeral arrangements will be announced shortly.''


Bashir Ahmad, Personal Assistant on New Media to President Muhammadu Buhari, and Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, also confirmed the passing of the former Chief of Staff.

Ahmad tweeted, "Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari, has died. May Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him the highest rank of Jannah. Allah ya jikan sa".
